Release notes

Before 1986 the Japanese CD market has not have its own Wind and Wuthering release. I believe the vinyl records, cassette tapes (and possibly some CD imports from Europe) were the only one available at the time in Japan.

On october 21, 1987 EMI Japan has released the very first Wind and Wuthering CD for the Japanese market. The CD came out in "32VD" series. The reference number of this CD is 32VD-1033.

All CDs from this series came out with a spectacular "Black Triangle" label design on disc. Each album was priced at 3,200 Japanese Yen. The"VD", in the catalogue number, stands for "Virgin-Digital" and "32" represents the price of 3,200 Yen.

"32VD" series was a massive release of albums to simply cover the demand (of Digital sound) on the Japanese market. Many titles from the series, where release for the first time in Japan on the CD. All the CDs from the series were available on sale only in Japan (and for about a year) and discontinued.

This entry represents extremely rare and long out of print Wind and Wuthering CD intended for sale only in Japan. The CD has been released with an OBI strip and a Japanese insert (in English and Japanese language).

The CD have long bar stoppers jewel case and this is the way how the original copies were released. I haven't seen any Japanese CD from this series released in different jewel case.

The OBI strip is in brown colour. The front insert has on the upper right corner "32VD-1033" printed in black. The insert is very simple and blank underneath. The Japanese insert, however, is a different story! An extremely well presented fold out Japanese insert has lyrics and some reviews (in Japanese language) of the album.

The CD has Virgin and Charisma logo on label. There is also a set of catalogue numbers present on the label. The second catalogue number refers (CDS 4005) to European Virgin/Charisma CDs.

MFD. BY TOSHIBA EMI LTD IN JAPAN in printed at the bottom. The disc has "Black Triangle" design on it. This Toshiba design is quite unique and a very desirable by collectors.

Rear sleeve has Japanese style barcode The barcode is not present on the OBI. There is also a set of two dates, present on rear art, and a Japanese vinyl record catalogue number, printed near the bottom.

The release was in print for relatively short period of time and over the years became more and more hard to find. I must admit that copies with original OBI strip are enormously hard to find, even in Japan.

Disc variation

No variation that I know of.
