Release notes |
Here we have an interesting Japanese CD re-issue from 1991. The CD was released, for the Japanese market on November 5, 1991. The album is released by Vertigo label with "Stay Gold" Japanese CD series. The catalogue number of this release is PHCR-6019. The album was available on sale for ¥2.100.
This is 4th Japanese domestic release of ABACAB and 2nd Japan CD pressing of this title. Disc of this release was manufactured by JVC pressing plant in Japan. Rear inlay does not contain a barcode, however, barcode was attached to the OBI. Originally, the album was released with an OBI strip and a Japanese fold-out insert.
The CD is silver, in colour with "Blue Spiral" Vertigo graphics, but this is Japanese pressing. The inner center hub is clear and matte (you can see this matte on the scan). The disc has printed MADE IN JAPAN near the bottom edge. The CD came in jewel case with two long stopper bars. The matrix numbers of the disc are "CBR-102-A1E | 4". Note that CBR-102 refers to the UK vinyl edition of the album.
Mastering note: Regarding the sound, I should also
point out that this is the last unremastered Japanese
release, which contain original 1980s Virgin mastering. Yes!
This is a Vertigo (Nippon Phonogram Co. Ltd., Japan)
release, but contain Virgin (UK) mastering. Later Japanese
album editions (after 1994) were released with mastering
sourced from Definitive Edition Remaster series.
|
The disc was manufactured in Japan, by JVC and contain JVC style matrix numbers with visible "Tetris" blocks in the matrix ring. This is JVC late 80s and early 90s pattern that Japanese and American plants occasionally used during CD production.
I have to say that this release is not common, but show up on the online auctions from time to time. Complete release was issued with detached OBI a Japanese two page booklet and fold-out lyrics in English.
Disc variation |
There is no variation that I know of.
