Release notes

This is a Vertigo CD release sold mostly in France and possibly Belgium. The disc of this release is manufactured by PDO plant in France, Louviers. This is the first French pressing of this CD. The year of the release remain unknown.

The disc have a red Vertigo swirl graphics and a black text. Half part of the CD is printed in grey colour while the rest is silver and red. There is no outer mirror band present on disc. The disc is silver all the way to the center hole. This design is basically adopted from the West German CDs of this title. There is only one difference on disc that is visible and give us information about the CD manufacturer. A statement MADE IN FRANCE BY PDO is printed along the bottom disc edge.

In my opinion these copies were sold in France between 1988 and 1989 (just before PDO was converted in PRS and later PMDC), but I have no sufficient evidence, so I leave the year of the release unknown.

Insert has only two pages. There are no lyrics inside, just a picture of Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins and Tony Banks sitting by the wall. The colour scheme of the front page of the insert is light gray, yellow, navy blue and maroon. The insert has printed IMPRIME EN FRANCE - MONTREUIL OFFSET in the bottom left corner. Vertigo logo appear on top. Although the disc have GEMA indication on it, the CD itself was distributed in France and possibly Belgium.

Rear artwork has a barcode numbers that are the same as on the early West German Vertigo releases, which make the release unique. I have not seen these barcodes appearing on later releases. Only the very first West German CDs were released with these barcode numbers. It does not mean, however, that this copy was released along with the first West German CDs. This CD was issued a much later and in a different territories.

Rear artwork has also Phonogram/Polygram price code PG 899 printed in a box. The price codes helps retailer set the price for the CD.

This CD is not common. Because the CD was distributed mostly in France there are better chance to find it there rather than elsewhere.

Disc variation

There is also a minor variation of this CD. For more information, please see this entry.
