Release notes

This is Sony DADC pressing for Columbia House. The CD has been released by Columbia House, but still under Atlantic label. Inserts, however, are taken of WEA (European) releases and modified for Columbia House release. This is not common in Phil Collins or Genesis Discography. The catalogue numbers of this release are A2-80035. The disc also have an additional numbers present on the label, DIDY 451, which represents the plant work order. The CD has been released sometime between 1987 and 1988.

Matrix numbers, not visible on the scan

Matrix numbers of the disc are "DIDX 451 21C5". The matrix numbers are not visible on the scan, so I had to take a photo of the disc to show the complete matrix sting. Central disc hub have embossed "Made in USA - Digital Audio Disc Corp."

The catalogue numbers, A2-80035 are present on inserts, disc and a spine. Work order, DIDY 451 appears only on disc label. DIDX 451 is in the matrix string. CRC is printed on label.

Rear tray card does not have a barcode and has printed "Made in U.S.A." on the lower right corner. WEA International logo appears in the booklet and on tray card. A statement "Manufactured by Columbia House under license." in sprinted on the tray card. Atlantic logo is only present on disc.

"MADE IN U.S.A." is printed underneath the Atlantic logo. The CD was distributed with ribbed-sided jewel case with two long stopper bars. Interestingly, an outer pages in the booklet are made from, looks like a better quality paper. The internal pages, however, are made like for the "newspaper" and their colour was changed over the years (progressing discoloration). It think this is the way how Columbia House cut the cots to sell their CDs cheaply. Retail pressings of "Hello, I Must Be Going!", either made in Japan, West Germany or USA, have fold out booklet with decent quality paper. In fact, this is the only "Hello, I Must Be Going!" CD in my collection that booklet have paper clips. All "Hello, I Must Be Going!" CDs were released with fold-out booklet.

In terms of rarity, I would say this release is not common. Of course Columbia House used various manufacturers and I believe that Sony DADC, in America, was the only plant which manufactured "Hello, I Must Be Going!" discs for Columbia House. I have never seen WEA manufacturing Inc. discs of this title that were manufactured for Columbia House.

Disc variation

No variation that I know of.
