Release notes

The CD has been distributed in European countries, in 1988, by WEA. The album originally has been released for German market, but eventually the record companies decided to release the series of "40 Golden Greats" in Europe too. The CDs were distributed in the UK, France, Italy, and other European destination where WEA holds distribution rights.

The disc has gold label and is identical to the one presented in variant A entry. There is only one difference that distinguish the CD. A brown hyper sticker is present on the lid. These CDs where intended for European distribution, but sometimes there were on sale in Germany too. Nowadays these CDs can be found all over the world.

If I had to compare these two variants, I would say this one is a lot easier to locate due to the wider distribution.

There was a speculation that these CDs are not made of 24KT gold! Well, there is no information in the release whatsoever about gold used to manufacture the CD. I tend to believe that the gold label has been created by using different type of metal, but I think it's not gold. This is just speculation. We never find out.

In terms of sound the mastering is great! This is probably Barry Diament mastering, when he was with Atlantic.

Disc variation

This CD has also been issued in Germany with different sticker. For more information check variant A entry.
