Release notes

Here we have the very first Japanese CD release of this title, from late 1984. This is, however, a variation with the single "CSR" embossed on the plastic hub. The disc has the same "Target" design as the first variant CD of the title.

I believe this copy was released alongside with Variant A, however, it appear to be less common. My copy doesn't have an additional Warner-Pioneer sheet. It only came with Japanese fold-out insert. I also believe this copy wasn't distributed in a large quantities. CDs from Variant A are more common.

What is a CSR?

The CSR acronym stands for CBS/SONY Records. The CSR indicates CDs manufactured by CBS/SONY factory in Japan (Shizuoka). Some early CDs have a single (or repeated three times) CSR on the plastic disc hub. I have seen discs from 1984 up to 1989 with such an acronym. Later on, possible in the early 1990s, CBS/Sony factory abandoned the embossed hubs.

The CD was released only in Japan, but these days may have be located in the United States as well. Many of Japanese (Japan-for-Japan) CDs were transported to the United States, when demand for second hand CDs was getting bigger (middle 1990s).

Except the disc variation, nothing else in this release differs from the Variant A. Matrix numbers are the same to both discs.

As far as I can tell, all 32XD-339 CD releases come with long bar stop jewel cases. I have seen a many over the years and most of them had long bar stop jewel cases. It's not happen often, but sometimes original jewel cases are replaced. A brand new jewel case shouldn't be present in this release. Originally the 32XD-339 CD was issued with a long bar stop jewel case.
