Release notes

Here we have the first UK domestic CD issue from November, 1989. This CD was released to promote the album prior the official launch. It has a promotional sticker on the back of the jewel case. The CD was manufactured in the UK by Nimbus factory and send, by the distributor, to shops and radio stations before the official album release.

The CD was released by Virgin Records and distributed by Virgin Records Ltd. The catalogue number of the release is CDV2620.

The disc has a black label and white text. There is no country of manufacture present on label. The catalogue numbers are printed throughout the release without a space between CDV and 2620.

The matrix numbers, however, are CDV 2620 ·   :MASTERED BY NIMBUS: with space between CDV and 2620.

A single dot in the matrix numbers let me think that this is the very first use of the given mastering. Later copies have more "dots" in the matrix string.

The CD has been released with ribbed-sided jewel case with two ball stoppers. The back of the jewel case has a promotional sticker, which covers the bar code and reads "PROMOTIONAL COPY NOT FOR SALE". Apparently, this is the full retail CD issue that was sent out to promote the album prior to the official premiere.

I found this CD in the UK and this is Virgin promotional copy that hasn't been distributed abroad. This is domestic promotional CD, so there are grater chances to find it in the UK.

I would say the retail version of this pressing is relatively common in the UK, however, stickered promo copies appear to be much harder to locate. Within the last 5 years or so, I have only seen two other copies like this one.

Disc variation

No variation of the CD that I know off.
